WOMAN THEORY
JACK THE RIPPER CRIMES.
SIGNIFICANT TOKENS,
(Received 3.30> p.m.) BERLIN, November 13
A new theory, to the effect that “Jack the Ripper” is a woman, is now being investigated by the Dusseldorf police and also by Inspector Gennat, a great Berlin detective, who has been specially summoned. The police declare they have obtained evidence that a mysterious woman distributed sweets to some children with whom the latest victim was playing on the evening before her disappearance. An important aspect is that the woman is reported to have had a hoarse voice, which would help her to pass as a man if dressed as one. A farther scrutiny of the map reveals that the writing is of a distinctly feminine character. The objects found by the digging party in a field on the outskirts of the city consist of a woman’s hat, a blouse and a bunch of keys.
