STAMPEDE FOR SAFETY

A report from Edmonton (Alberta) states that all the 200 inhabitants of the township of Thorhild, 50 miles north of here, are homeless, many without clothing and all without food, taking shelter on available floor space in farmhouses, following a bush fire last evening.
The fire, which was fanned by a. high wind, was like an inferno and was upon the township almost before, the danger was realised. There was no loss of life, though some suffered burns. The majority of the children escaped in their night clothes. The loss is estimated at 150,000 dollars.
