WESTFIELD STOCK SALE

BE'EF PRICES EASE. GOOD MARKET FOR PIGS. (Special to “Northern Advocate.”) . , . AUCKLAND, This Day. A-larger .yarding of beef met with a steady demand at Westfield yesterday,' but values were slightly easier, especially for heavy weights. Extra choice ox sold at 43s per 100 lbs which was Is below ' last week’s 'rate and ■other classes of Reef cattle also sold a ■shade ‘easier. Sheep word penned in only .small numbers,' but were of good quality and found a, strong market, aiid last week’s increased prices for practically all classes were fi;lly sustained. Spring lambs came forward in small numbers and sold well. Calves were again in plentiful supply and .sold on a par with late values, ■Competition wag again very keen for all classes of pork, an average yarding soiling at prices in advance of last week. A sharp demand existed for all well-finished sorts. Quotations are as follows, last week’s being .shown iij parentheses:— ■Beef, per lOOlbs.—-Extra choice ox, 43/, (44/); choice and prime ox, 30/ to 42/, (41/ to 43/); choice and prime cow and heifor, 38/ to 4]/, (38/ to 42/). : ' . Sheep, per head.—Prime, wethers, 33/f5 to 45/, (36/9 to. 46/); prime ewes, 3,6/6 to 41/9, (28/6 to 35/9); hoggets, 25/6, to 37/6, (23/ to 32/3); spring lambs, 34/ to 44/. Calves, per head—Runners 70/ to 128/, (89/ to 125/); voalfps, 60/ to 114/, (56/ lo 120/). Pigs, per head.—Baconers, 80/ to 105/, (78/ to 101/) ; porkers, 53/ to 60/, (53/ to SO/); weanors, 8/ to 23/, (8/ to 20/); slips, 24/ to 35/, (21/ to 33/) ; largo stores, 40/ to 55/, (34/ to .43/).
