The terribly crushed body of Marvel Crosson, aged 25 years, one of the best “ known’female pilots in America, was found alongside the wreckage ' .of her ; plane. She had evidently jumped from a height of several hundred feet, but the parachute failed to function. Amongst 18 other contestants font A claimed that their planes had been tam- * pered with during an overnight stay at San Bernardino, California.
