Mr H. J. McCarthy, the popular station-master of Kawakawa, who has been, transferred to To Kuiti on promotion was farewelled by the business people and the railway staff. On behalf of the townspeople, Mr S. W. 'Smith presented Mr McCarthy with a handsome eight-day clock and a tobacco pouch as a mark of esteem and appreciation of services rendered to the public. Mr McCarthy suitably replied. "Prior to their departure from Kawakawa to Omana, Mr and Mrs W. Simpson and family were farewelled at the Kawakawa railway station yesterday. On behalf of their numerous friends, they -were presented with a handsome teaset, and a ease of silver teaspoons as a mark of esteem, by Mr T, K. Pettit, w T ho voiced the regret at their leaving the district whore they had resided for so many years. Mr Simpson suitably responded. On Saturday evening last, Mr Geo. Marshall was the recipient of a handsome dinner service from the staff of Wallace Supplies Ltd., Kawakawa, on the eve of his approaching marriage. The presentation was made by Mr S. W. Smith (manager) who eulogised the good qualities of Mr Marshall, both as an employee and as a citizen, and wished him the best of luck and happiness in the future. Mr Marshall made suitable acknowledgment.
