RAILWAYS' NEW SHOPS

RETURN OF COST TABLED. OVER TWO MILLIONS INVOLVED. (From Our Parliamentary Special) WELLINGTON, This Day. In accordance with a motion (by Mr T, W. MacDonald (Wairarapa) a return was tabled in the House of Representatives yesterday in respect to the cost of the new railway workshops, throughout 'the Dominion. The estimated- aggregate cost of reorganisation of the workshops, including equipment, is shewn as £2,279,459. The cost of each workshop is as follows: —Otahuhu, £586,554; Hutt, £777,912; Addington, £387,419; Hillside, £495,385; East Town, £32,189.
