FIRE FIGHTING BY PLANE

TIMELY AID RENDERED.

(Special to “ Northern Advocate. ’') AUCKLAND, This Day.

Making a difficult landing, close to the blazing homestead of Mr and Mrs Harold Bull, of Ptiketutu Island, Manakau Harbour, yesterday afternoon, Mr. Douglas Mill and a companion, in one of the Air Survey and Transport Com* pany’s Moth aeroplanes, lent timely and valued assistance to the owners in saving outlying buildings.

The house, a large 12-roomed twostoreyed structure, burned rapidly and with heat so extreme that a small quantity of furniture removed from the front room to apparent safety was soon destroyed. ' The total extent of the loss Mr Bull estimates at least £SOOO. It was covered to some degree by a policy, but nevertheless Mr. Bull’s loss will be severe.
