Over SOO feet ■of hose had to be run out, owing to the absence of plugs at the lower end of the street, despite the valuable timber mill and buildings in the vicinitv. The fire originated in the smokehouse. Though' the building was very considerably damaged, a dynamo and refrigerating machinery were saved. ;
