STRUCK BY BUS

An inquest was held at Pet one yesterday into the, death Of William Henry\Davies, who was knocked down and killed by the Railway Department ’s bus at; Pctono on the evening of May 27. The bus driver stated that he had a bad view of the road as the 'windscreen was wet from rain that had fallen
a short time previously and a street light was glaring on it. He saw the deceased when the latter was about 12 feet from the bus. He immediately applied the brakes, but the bus struck the man.
A passenger in flu 1 Inis stated tliat a saloon oar passed the bus just before {lie moment of impact. It appeared that Davies, in trying to avoid the car, stopped in front of the bus.
A verdict, that deceased died from a fractured skull received in a collision ■with a .motor bus driven by Frederick George Goss, was returned.
