THE ORDERING-OFF INCIDENT

DECISION OF REFEREES’ ASSOCIATION.

There was an attendance of tea at the weekly meeting of (the Whangarei Referees’ Association last night. A full report was received from the Wham gam Rugby Union regarding the ordering off of riulayson. Mr B. Bowden objected to the Press being allowed to report the discussion and signified bis intention of leaving /the chair if the Preses was admitted.

Contending that the referees had nothing to hide, and that the public should be informed of both sides of the question Messrs W. McKenzie and J, W. Nicholson were in favour of the discussion being open. It was decided, by six vojtes to two, that the meeting go into committee. After eonsiderabee discussion, the meeting decided to inform the Bugby Union “That the Beferees’ Association have every confidence in Mr McKenzie as a referee, and that the incident be closed.”
