STRIKE VIOLENCE
ASSAULT ON TIMBER WORKERS. SCENE IN ASSEMBLY. (Australian Press Association.) (Received Noon.) SYDNEY, This Day. A reward of £250 has been offered for information leading to the convic: tion of the persons guilty of yesterday’s assault on timber workers at Rockdale. The police ascertained that efforts were made to maim Stevenson after he lhad been kicked into unconsciousness, A fiery scene took place in the Legislative Assembly when Mr Weaver (Nationalist) appealed for the protection of volunteer workers and demanded the prosecution of Mr Culbert, a member of the Legislative Council, for participation in the strike. The secretary of the Timber Merchants ’ Association says that the timber yards are gradually being manned.
