CREDIT BY FRAUD
MAN PUT ON PROBATION. FANCIFUL TALE TOLD. (Per Press Association.—Copyright.) HASTINGS, This Day. Victor Milton Rowlands appeared on remand at the Magistrate’s Courtyesterday charged with obtaining credit by fraud from Francis Maria Griffiths, a. boardinghouse-keeper. The false representations alleged were that he owned a plantation all Norfolk Island, was a fully qualified solicitor, had received a, draft from Norfolk Island and that Williams and Kettle, Ltd., were holding a draft of £SOO for him. On these representations he obtained £8 15s for board. Accused, who had been remanded twice, reversed his plea of not guilty to guilty, Rowlands was admitted to' probation. for two years and ordered to pay the money to Mrs .Griffiths within throe months.
