PASSINGS FREQUENT. PRICES RECEDE. (Per Press Association. —Copyrignt.) NjA'P'IER., This Fay. Prices on a level \with • the last, Wellington sale and slightly above those at Wanganui were realised at the fourth Napier sale today. The catalogue of 28,000 bales -drew a bench of nearly 80 buyers. The market, although steady, was not overrated and passings were frequent, compared with the last Napier sale. Prices generally fell about Id per lb.‘ Lambs' wool sold well, reaching up to 20d and; bellies and pieces ran to 13M. Hogget wool, however,, was quitted at 12d to 18d, and half-bred and crossbred from 13d to 19cl, French and English buyers wore fairly active, withAimerican, New Zealand and Australian competing for less qualities. It is expected that the sale will last till evening. FOURTH OF THE SERIES,

(Per Press Association. —Convright.) NAPIEE, This Day. The fourth wool sale of the season in Napier showed an improvement of on the prices realised at Auckland and Wanganui. Compared with the January sale, in Napier, the prices were lower toy IJd to 2d, but the condition of the wool offered was hot up to the standard of that submitted at the earlier auctions, when some of the best clips Hawke’s Bay has produced for many seasons were offered. The catalogue totalled 25,027 bales and about 85 per cent, was disposed of under tho hammer. Buyers \were present representing all the usual con* suming centres. Americans did not operate very freely, there being a limited quantity of wool .suited to their requirements. Competition,- generally, was keen, evidently, the lower range of prices permitting buyers to get within their limit. French competition was pronounced, with Bradford a close second, but there did not appear to bo such keen competition from , German interest as in the earlier sales. The official range of prices will toe announced later.
