NIGHT CLUB BRIBES GODDARD CASE RESUMED. (Australian Press Association.) (Received 1.38 p.m.) LONDON, December 18. Hearing of the ease was resumed today in which ex-Station Sergeant Goddard was charged with receiving bribes from Mrs Meyrick, known as, *the ‘ ‘ Night Club Queen, ’’•'. and ; Luigi Ribufii, a prominent night club manager. Bank clerks gave evidence that several notes of high denominations had been traced as haying passed from a Soho night club to Goddard and wore eventually found in safe’deposits. Superintendent Morton, of Goddard’s. division, submitted various-re-ports from Goddard in. connection with clubs which, as a result of “complaints, Goddard was instructed to watch. These stated that there was not a tittle of evidence of illegal liquor allegations, which were characterised as without foundation and unsubstantiated. Witness submitted oher reports by Goddard replying to anonymous charges, in which Goddard said that the writers must be suffering from hallucinations .or were , confirmed liars. Superintendent Morton ; added that considerable expense had been incurred by Goddard throughout the , observations.
