TALLOW, HEMP, APPLES, ETC. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE The department of Agriculture has receiver] the following Cablegram dated December .15' from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow.—The market is very quiet with only small business at auction. Hemp.—The Manila market is .dull though easier, but was steadier at the close. Closing values .. “J" , grade; January-March shipment, £37 10s. Good quality beef cattle were yarded at Westfield yesterday, and a firm demand at late quotations resulted. Average numbers were forthcoming, and steady competition was maintained for sheep, prices liming substantially the same as last week, although a slight drop in values Was noticeable in the ease of prime and unfinished wethers. -

numbers ■ were offered and bidding was keen throughout. Good quality heavy voalcrs brought satisfactory prices in the calf pons.
