BOYS’ BAND
SOLO COMPETITION TONIGHT.
At the Town Hall this evening the members of the Whangarei Municipal Silver Junior B : and will indulge in their first contest work, the occasion being a solo competition embracing five sections. A considerable period of time has elapsed since the Whangarei public was privileged to hear band contest work, and as the boys have been practising very assiduously for some time there .should be a bumper audience.
Mr Albert Dobson, LiA.B., L.T.GJ;., will act as adjudicator and will award points under the following headings:-—* Production and quality of tone- (possible 35), phrasing (25) expression (25), impression of musicianship' (15).' In addition to the competition, vocal and instrumental items will be rendered by Misses Calkin, Morgan, Cochrane, Mans on (2) and Bandsman T. Bcatson.
As the admission charges arc except tionally moderate it is hoped that the attendance will be of such dimension that the debt on the instruments will be wiped out.
