HOUSEWIVES’ FRIENDS
THE LATEST NOVELTIES. AN INTERESTING ARRAY, (Australian Press Association.) (Received 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, October 10. A host of new devices at the an* nual Inventions Exhibition appears to bo making the housewife’s lot much easier. Sir Herbert Morgan, at the opening, said he feared that womenkind would eventually lose their natural skill and become mere automatons. The novelties include a wire attachment on a kettle lid which turns off the gas when the kettle boils; a device which seals a pie crust and prevents the juice escaping; an eversharp breadkrtife, which makes no crumbs; a teapot on the thermos principle;' a folding telescope umbrella, which is capable of being accommodated in a lady’s handbag; a telephone attachment which, it is claimed, in the event of a subscriber’s absence records the calling number and records the message.
