DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB. SPRING MEETING OPENS. (Per Press Association. —Copyright.) DUNEDIN, This Day. Fine weather obtains for the first day of the Dunedin Jockey Glob’s spring meeting. The track is in excellent condition and the attendance good. (Spring Hurdles, of 200 sovs; one mile and three-quarters, —(1) Diana’s Lad (Shaw), 9.12, 1; (2) Carinthia, 10.3, 2; (3) Red Heather, 10.8, 3. Antrim Hoy and Amorist were scratched. Won by four lengths. Time 3.10 l-o. A track record, Maungatura Handicap, of 17.» sovs; seven furlongs.— (4) Phastar (Powell), 7.7, 1; (5) First Raid, 8.3, 2; (6) Amourette’, 7.9, 3, Royal Flower was scratched. Won by half a length. Time—l. 29 3-5. Trial Stakes, of 170 sovs; six furlongs. —(2) Pound Note (L. J. Ellis), 8,2, 1; (1) Starshooter, 8.2, 2; (I) Waving Corn, 7.11, 3. Amourette was scratched. Won by two lengths. Time: Imin lOsec. Wine Tray, which came in fourth, was coupled with the winner. McLean Stakes, of 500 sovs; five furlongs.—(2) Aspiring (C. Emerson), 8.0, 1; (1) Franeolin, 8.0, 2; (6) Stealth, 8.5, 3. All started. Won by a length and a half. Time —lm 1 4-ss. historic cup. PRESENTATION TO AUCKLAND CLUB. (Special to “Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, This Day. An historic massive silver cup has been purchased in London by Mr Moss Davis for presentation to the Auckland Racing Club, according to advice in a letter by Mr H. R. Mackenzie. It was once the property of the late Queen Victoria and is described as a very beautiful work. The Racing Club has not yet been officially advised of the impending gift.
