STOCK AT WESTFIELD
VALUES EASE SLIGHTLY. (Special to "Northern Advocate ”) AUCKLAND, This Day. Heavy yardings of cattle and sheep at the weekly Westfield sale, yesterday, caused a slight easing of values, but the market remained eager. The demand for ox beef was steady throughout, but last week’s rate of 46/ per lOOlbs for extra choice ox, was scarcely maintained, 45s being quoted as yesterday’s figure. The quality of the offering was excellent. An average yarding of cow beef sold steadily at a shade below last week’s quotations. Sheep, too, were offered in numbers above the average. There were quite a few shorn lots, including several good lines of ewes Competition was active, but was liberally fed and values eased slightly. Spring lambs came forward in larger numbers, but sold readily at late rates. Values for calves again firmed, although there was a very substantial offering. Pigs of all descriptions sold well.
