Messrs Alfred Backhand and Sons .report that at the weekly Westfield fat stock market today they pcnm 1 43$ head, comprising 2f>f> steers and 173 cows and heifers, compared with 441 last week. The quality was again first-class and the demand was keen, although values were a trifle easier. Extra choice ox sold to 3."/ per Kid lbs; choice and prime, 33/ to 34/0; ordinary and plain, 30/ to 32/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 27/ to 20/: ordinary cow, 23/ to 20/; extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from hi t I.V to £lO 10/; heavy, £l3 1.1/ to £l4 12/0; lighter, £l2 10/ to £l3 12/0; light, £lO 10/ to £l2 7/0; unfinished and small, £0 5/ to £lO 7/0; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £lO 10/ (o £ll 10/; heavy, £8 10/ to £lO 5/; lighter, £7 to £8 7/G; other cows, £4 13/ to £0 17/0.
