BURGESS AGAIN IN COURT
FAILURE TO MAINTAIN - WIFE
THREE MONTHS’ OAOL AWARDED.
(Per Press Association—Copyright.) AUCKLAND, This Day. William Alfred Burgess, who was the central figure in the recent New Brighton bach tragedy, , was today sentenced to three months’ gaol by the magistrate, Air H. P. Lowry, on a J charge of disobeying a maintenance order in favour of his wife. The arrears totalled £298. The warrant will be suspended provided Burgess pays off i'2 7s fid weekly. The magistrate said: “You had no reasonable excuse for not paying this maintenance. You were running two | baches at the time when you wore letting your wife get on as Lest she could without money. Burgess said he was now working as a truck driver in the country.
