ASSOCIATION DANCE
On Thursday evening last a very enjoyable dance,was held in the Towai Hall, under the auspices of the Show Association. The music was supplied by Miss Kathleen Hauraki and her brother, Mr Apcna Hauraki. TELEPHONE EXCHANGE. The Towai exchange has been opened with 25 subscribers, but several other residents have made application to be connected. Jt is hoped that soon there will be 50 subscribers, thus enabling a
7 a.m. to 0 p.m. service. Residents of Towai and the surrounding districts will be interested to learn that the distance from Towai to Whangarei has been re-measured, and it has been found that the mileage is under 25. Therefore the toll 'fee will be 5d instead of Od for 3 minutes as before. the shooting season. General regret was felt amongst the sportsmen of the district at the closing of the shooting season on Saturday. The shooting round about Towai has not been plentiful, the birds seeming to prefer the bushy patches further back. PERSONAL. Mrs Hartley Dawson, who was operated upon in a Palmerston North hospital, is now well on the way to recovery, She will be away from Towai for several weeks. Mr Heg. O’Neill had the misfortune to injure one of his lingers while playing football. It is feared that thfinger will have to he amputated, Mr Parker, of the firm of Parker and Gardiner, Auckland, has been visiting Mrs R. Campbell, of Towai. Miss L. Gilbert is relieving at the Hukerenui Post Office for one month, while Miss Rouse is on vacation. Residents will be 'interested to know that stone-crushing at Half-way Creek is to commence shortly. About seven thousand yards will be pad-docked ready for the metalling of the main highway in the spring. '
