HOSPITAL BOARD REPRESENTATION
BOROUGH COUNCIL SATISFIED
In connection with the constitution of hospital boards, the Palmerston North town clerk forwarded a circular to the Whangarei Borough Council last evening in which it was stated that his council was of opinion that the Hospital and Charitable Aid Institutions Act should be amended to enable city and borough councils to have direct representation thereon, and it therefore asked that the Whangarei Borough Council should give the matter mentioned earnest consideration. If in favour of bringing such matters before the Government an early reply was sought to enable arrangements to. be made for a deputation representing the contributing bodies to wait upon the Government during the present session of Parliament. Cr A. M, Rust suggested that the recommendation be approved, but the Mayor, Mr L. J. Brake, proposed as an amendment that the letter be received, and declared Ids belief that the people could not be better represented than they were under the existing arrangement.
Thereupon Cr TJust ■withdrew his pro posal and the letter was received.
