1 FIXTURES. ! I I I RACING, I May 24—Author ley R.C. j June 2,4, ti—Auckland R.C. Winter. j.Tune 2,4, o—Dunedin J.C. Winter. I i TROTTING. June 2, A —Canterbury Park T.C. Winj ter. I June 4—Hawke’s Hay T.C. Winter. June 2.'i, 27 —Auckland T.C. Winter, NOTES AND COMMENTS. (By “Spotter.”) Avro was very slow to find bis legs at Wanganui on Thursday last, but lie finished really well, and will soon be amongst the stake-earners again. Lady’s Boy showed all his brilliancy at Wanganui, and with a little help from his rider might have won.

Calianmore was unlucky at Wanganui, bur ran well enough to suggest his being hard to beat in the immediate future.

San Fora gave a very poor display at Wanganui, and does not appear to be tlit* success anticipated.

The Stratford-trained Radiate (Polydainofl —Bleriot), who is well enough bred to win good handicaps, gave a fine display in the Hack Steeplechase at Wanganui. He was unlucky to full at the last fence.

Royal Damon received a splendid run next to the rails on the first day at Wanganui, but the last furlong helped to bring about his defeat.

Pour! looked well when sent out to contest the May Hurdles last Thursday. He ran fourth in the event, and, more vigorously ridden, must have finished even closer to the winner.

Troilus was a “good thing’' beaten at Wanganui. His rider rushed him to the front, hut had to open up a big lead. Troilus was literally ridden into the ground.

tllcnross ran a tine race in the Connolly Handicap. As he parries welter weights well and handles soft going better than most racehorses, he can he kept in view for races to be run during the next few weeks. Ycsperus was backed as if the Connolly Handicap was at his mercy. He received a very bad'run, and this helped to keep him out of the prize money. With a good run Yesperus may have won.

Thormlale bears a bright’ appearance after his race at Ashburton, and he is not at the end of his winning. He has not done much during the past week, but P. P. Clarridge knows thoroughly the treatment that suits his horse, who has retained his form this season particularly well.

Fresco looks wbll at present, but he will require to improve on liis Ashburton form to have much chance in the chief event at Amberley.

Rotor is due to make his appearance In open company at Amberley. He'has shown that lie can run out a mile in hack fields, and ho should he equal to a useful effort at a mile and a quarter.

The Bailiff is a likely hack who may run well at Amberley, His Ashburton form was disappointing, but he met with bad luck on the journey, so he need not be condemned on account of that failure.

Zaragoza ha,s been moving along freely in Jier work during the past week, and she should be hard to beat at Amberley, where she is engaged in a seven furlong race.

Gold Mint finished on strongly at Ashburton, where Gay Sonnet just beat him, and a repetition of that running will make him dangerous at Amberley,

Malmsey showed 1 up very attractively when she won at Ashburton. She appears to have benefited by the racing she lias done lately, and another stake may come her way before long. Lancer looks well, and his hack form gives him a great chance for early engagements. Karly in his career 'Master Clarence showed promise of 'being useful, but h“ has not realised expectations, A fall last November, when he was racing at I’iccarton necessitated a spell, and sim-e lie resumed work has not been galloping up to his old form. I’ossibly he will be improved by a little racing.
