GERMAN ELECTIONS

TWO IMPORTANT PHASES,

RHINELAND EVACUATION,

DAWES PLAN IN QUESTION,

(Times Cable.) (Received 8.37 a.m.) LONDON, May 23

The Paris correspondent of the “Times,” commenting apropos the German - elections generally, points out that a price will be asked for peaceful co-operation. The first action of any Government which bases its support on the Democrats and Socialists will be to ask for the evacuation of Rhineland as a logical consequence of the Locarno Security Pact.

Some anxiety is felt as to how the new Government’s financial policy will affect the carrying out of the Dawes plan.
