Rain throughout the country interfered with the county cricket matches which commenced on Saturday, when Yorkshire, Sussex, Derbyshire and Somerset did not play. The last-named, with Marviebone, West Indies, Sussex and Surrey did not play today. Marylobouo scored 65 for 1 wicket against West Indies. Lancashire obtained 204 (Hallows 74, Mayer 4 wickets for 52) against Warwickshire, who replied with 107 (R. Tyldosley 4 for 28). Sussex made 9.1 for 2 wickets against Yorkshire. s
Northants score<| 150 (Freeman 0 for 52) against Kent, who scored 452 for 7 wickets (Ashdown 178 and Woolley 77).
Nottinghamshire made 141 for 7 wickets (Whysall 61) against Leices-
tershiro,
Worcestershire Obtained 144 (Gibbons 107, Kennedy 5 -wickets for 66 and Boyes 4 for 3,6) against Hampshire, who had 99 on for 3 wickets. Gloucester ran up 344 (Dipper 100, Hammond 53 and Dacre 69) against Oxford University, who made 277 for 8 wickets (Kengsley 93 and Ford not out 65).
