During recent years vast improvements have been effected in both our railway and reading system, the result being that the “Northern Advocate’’ is now able to bring within its circulation area the residents of a vast territory that hitherto had to depend upon the postal authorities for the distribution of mail matter. USE OF THE RAILWAY. By the North-bound railway which leaves Whangarei after three o’clock daily, the “Northern Advocate” is delivered to our Agents in every settlement from WHANGAREI TO BUSSELL, includingWhakapara, Hukerenui, Towai, Maromaku, Otiria, Moerewa, Kawakawa and Opua. The South-bound train, leaving at 3.0 p.m., is the means by which our Agents between WHANGAREI AND WAlOTlßA—Portland, Oakleigh, Mangapai, Tauraroa and Waiotira—-also receive tho “Northern Advocate” for distribution to subscribers on the night of issue. Settlers on the whole length of railway FROM WAIOTIRA TO RUSSELL,' a stretch of over SO miles, are therefore enabled to read the “Advocate” on the night of issue. SERVICE CARS. A motor-cycle service distributes the “Northern Advocate” Daily between WHANGAREI AND THE PARUA BAY DISTRICT, including OISERAIII. Distribution between HIKUBANGI and MARUA is effected by a boy on horseback. In addition to the various services enumerated, runner boys are engaged to deliver papers to subscribers in nine centres, namely: ONERAHI, RUAKAKA, WAIPU, TAURAROA, KAMO, HIKUBANGI, MOEREWA, KAWAKAWA, and WHANGAREI. It will be seen from the foregoing that the “Northern Advocate” enjoys-a wide and an immediate circulation within the limits mentioned, the residents being as well served in the matter of their Evening Paper as people living in Whangarei. To those who live in districts not served by railway or service ears, the Post Office is used for distribution purposes. CIRCULATION. The Circulation of the “Northern Advocate” today is considerably greater than at any time in its history. Thih is due to the fact that the new printing press recently /installed has enabled the proprietors to provide for readers a very much improved and more up-to-date news service than formerly.
