SEABRIDGE DEAD.

SEVERE LOSS TO OWNER,

Mr J. Frederic, the owner of Seatown, experienced a slice of very bad luck this week when Seabridge, the two-year-old brother, by Tonbridge, to Seatown, staked himself while running in the paddock and died of his injuries. Seabxidge was regarded by his owner and trainer as a highly promising colt and his loss is severe, apart from financial considerations.

NEARLY DROWNED.

COMMENDATION IN A DITCH,

SAVED BY A BEOKEN BAIL,

(Special to “Northern Advocate.”) WANGANUI, This Day.

The owner of Commendation, Mr

W, H. Gaisford, got a big fright recently when Commendation was found cast in' a ditch in the paddock m which he was running. The Limond gelding had apparently • broken through the protective railing, and it was only as the result of a piece of the railing falling across the ditch and supporting Commendation’s head that he was saved from drowning. He was not injured as the result of

his experience. Mr Gaisford states that Commendation is now very well and that it is his intention to have him shod immediately and hacked about. He will be quartered at Oringi, and in April will be sent to George Jones at Greenmeadows to start'his serious preparation. All going well with Commendation he will commence racing again in the spring and Sydney will be first objective, as Mr Gaisford is anxious to show Australians that Commendation is a better horse than he was able to show himself on his last visit.
