PRIVATE TRADING
PERMITTED' BY .SOVIET,
EXPEDIENT REVERSAL,
(Received 9 a.m.) WARSAW, February 4,
The Soviet is about to abolish State monopoly in foreign trade and to permit private concerns to import and export goods. This is regarded as a momentous decision, amounting to recantation of one of M. Lenin’s cardinal doctrines.
It is recalled that M. Trotsky accused the Stalinites of surrendering vital Communist principles. This was indignantly denied, but, faced with a serious financial position. M. Stalin has apparently surrendered to the inevitable.—A, and N.Z.
