ARCTIC CONDITIONS
PREVAILING IN AMERICA. SEVEN DEATHS RECORDED. (Received 9 a.m ) NEW YORK, January 28. The eastern part of the United States is gripped in a violent snowstorm and the temperature is near zero. It is forecasted that this low temperature will continue for some time. Many persons were injured in New York and Washington during the storm, and seven are dead in Chicago and the Great Lakes region. A negro burglar, when attempting to enter a shop, was caught by a falling window and frozen to death.—UV and N.Z.
