CROQUET TOURNEY
DOUBLES DECIDED,
SINGLES NARROWING DOWN.
Play in the tournament promote® by the Whangarei Ladies’ Croquet Club is being continued in beautiful weather. The lawns are in fine condition, which makes for accurate fe play. The Handicap Doubles fell to the lot of Medames Walker and McLean, whilst Mrs Webber and Miss Hodge (Epsom) annexed the - Champion Doubles from Mesdames Parker Hill and Clarke (Remuera). The B Grade Singles will be decided today between Mesdames McLean and MePhee, both of Whangarei. Details of the play are as follows: A GRADE SINGLES. Mrs Crane beat Mrs Maekie 26—12; Mrs Pope beat Mrs Morrish 26 —10; Mrs Wilson beat Mrs Marshall 26—• 20; Mrs Clarke beat Mrs Sword 26 16. Mrs Walker (Whangarei) beat Mrs Bryant (Papatoetoe) 26—6; Mrs Marshall (Whangarei) beat Mrs Sword (Whangarei) 26—21; Mrs Laurie (Whangarei) beat Mrs Higginsoii (Whangarei) 26—7. CHAMPIONSHIP DOUBLES. Mrs Webber and Miss Hodge beat Mesdames Marshall and Crane 26 24; Mrs Webber an'd {Miss Hodge beat Mesdames Walker and Laurie 26—19. Final.—Mrs Webber and Miss Hodge (Epsom) won from Mrs Parker Hill and Mrs Clarke (Remuera)' 26—-14. The losers did not play jup to their usual form. '■'j HANDICAP DOUBLES: . Final.—Mesdames Walker and McLean (Whangarei) beat Mesdames De- < lamore and Pope (Whangarei) 26—19. Mesdames Delamore and Pope were a long way behind in the early stages, but made a gallant effort in the concluding phases. B GRADE SINGLES.
