OBITUARY
ROBERT WYNYARD. AUCKLAND, This Day. Robert Wynyard, aged 73, secretary of the Takapuna Jockey Club died at Devonport yesterday. He had held the position for 44 years. The late Mr Wynyard was the eldest son of Captain Gladyn Wynyard, and grandson of Lieutenant-Governor Wynyard of the 58th regiment, at one time Governor of New Zealand. During his college days one of Mr Wynyard’s tutors was a young man named Scott, who afterwards became the notorious Captain Scott alias “Moonlight,” whose daring deeds as a bushranger and sensational end are referred to in Rolf Boldrewood’s “Robbery Under Arms.” The late Mr Wynyard is survived by five sons and five daughters.—Press Assn.
