When a man is left a widower he prefers, if he remarries, to look for a partner among spinsters. . This is one of the matrimonial facts revealed in the new book of London statistics issued by the L.C.C. Nearly twice as many widowers manned single women as wedded widows in the last recorded year, whereas the difference between the number of widows who married widowers and those who wed bachelors is very small. Widowers who married spinsters were 2132, and those who married widows 1327. There were 1698 widows who married bachelors, just over 390 more than married widowm-s. The hook displays women’s power at the polls in striking fashion. There are 33 Ld'.C. divisions where there are more, women than men voters.
