When betting closed the favourite was Desert Glow with £1649, Town Bank the second fancy carrying £1315, Eden Hall had £1240, and the winner Transformer £616.

From an excellent start Day Guard took up the running and led past the stand the first time from Papatu, Euapapa, ILpo, Eden Hall, and Desert Glow, with Lord Star last. Papatu and Day Guard were together in front passing the six furlong post, with Euapapa, Hipo, Desert Glow, Golden Krist, Transformer handy. Golden Kri§t then put in a fast run, as did also Transformer, and they were leading with Day Guard entering the top stretch. Transformer then drew out clear, with the others bunched. , Transformer/ leading into the straight from Eden Hall, Spoony, Town Bank, and Desert Glow in that order. In a good finish Transformer stayed on to beat Spoony by half a length, with Town Bank two lengths away, and Eden Hall dose up fourth. Day Guard was next, followed by Papatu, Thursby. Hipo, and Barometer, with Eoyal Present last. Time — 2.33 3-5. . I

Town Guard was favourite with £1287, A-warere, the second choice, carrying £IOO2. Macroom carried £797. Judge’s Box moved first, hut Awareve soon ran to the front, leading by a. length from .Judge’s Box. Alonsoa, Macroom, Pizarro, and Marble Mount. Macroom bad run up second at the half-mile post, and across the top the order was Awarere ami Macroom together, followed by Alonsoa, Judge’s Box, Town Guard, and War OCticerAwarere and Macroom were' still together turning for home, and they had a great rare to the judge, Awarere winning by a neck, with War Officer two lengths away. Hauraki Hack Handicap, of 325 sows; one mile and a furlong.—(7) Haugawera, 7.7, 1; (1) Wenday, 9.3, 2; (G) Te Koroke, 9.8, 3. Other starters: (2) Antrijn Boy 9.4, (3) Ngaroa S.S, (5) Queen Arch 8.2, (4) Kamehamcha 7.9, (8) Clockwork 7.9. Wenday was favourite with £1433, Antrim Boy being next best backed with ’£1295, Te Koroke carrying £722, and Hangawera, the winner, £457. Passing the stand the first time, Haugawera and Antrim Boy were the leaders, but when they entered the back Wenday had moved up to Antrim Boy, the pair showing the way to Clockwork, Hangawera, and Kamehamoha. Across the top the order was practically unchanged, but before reaching the turn Wenday had drawn clear, and led into the straight from Hangawera, j Kamehamoha and Te Koroke. In the j run home, Hangawera wore down Wenday, and won by a head, with To Koroke two and a half lengths away. Kamehamoha was fourth, followed by Arch Queen, Ngarara, and Clockwork. Time —1.56 2-5.

Stewards’ Handicap, of 550 sovs; six furlongs.—(l) Tea 8011, 7.10, 1; ■(4) Nod Kelly, 7.3, 2; (11) Serang 7.9 3.
