LINNEN VERSUS COTTON
It is a simple matter to distinguish linen from cotton if the appearance itself is not sufficient guide. Just moisten the point of a finger and apply. In the case of linen, the moisture will show on the' other side almost instantly. With cotton there will he a considerable interval. Higher heeled shoes are also on the way for us. Black satin slippers with moire heels are new; so are the lizard and patent leather styles with their “mourning" edges of patent leather outlining the lizard heels. Hosiery will get gradually darker, so I am assured, but I have a recollection of hearing rumours like that before.
