; POTS AND PANS. The durability of enamel ware is greatly enhanced if, directly after purchase, a handful of salt is placed in the pan and enough cold water added to fill it to the brim. After allowing it to stand for several hours the pan should bo placed over a slow heat and gradually brought to the boil. This treatment increases the resisting ■powers of the enamel, and it will not chip or burn nearly so easily as without this precautionary care. Aluminium pans should be cleansed with boiling -water and a good neutral soap never soda, as this discolours the metal and Cats it away. After cleaning, the pans should be rinsed, dried, and mlisliod -with whitening and a leather, which treatment will keep them beautifully ■bright and clean.
