CHINESE TRADERS
THEIR PRESENCE RESENTED,
CHRISTCHURCH, May 3.
Resentment at the growing Bold of Chinese in the fruit trade and their rapid spread into other trades was expressed by a Canterbury fruitgrowers’ meeting. It was decided to. write to the Minister of Internal Affairs, endorsing the action of the Government in placing an embargo on the entry of Chinese to New Zealand until the end of the year. It was also agreed to •bring the whole matter under the notice of the Trades and Labour ‘Council.—Press Assn.
