For this purpose two pennyworth of permanganate of potash used with plentv of water, is a useful fluid. Lime also isa powerful disinfectant. * • • t A furred kettle wastes a lot of gas. To free a kettle of fur, place it on the side of the stove where it will become hot without burning. .Tap the sides with a piece of wood, when the fur, loosened by the heat, will drop away. The kettle must become quite cold, however, before filling it with water.
