EMIGRATION
BRITISH AGRICULTURISTS LOST,
STRONG PROTEST BY FARMERS.
(Received 10.57 am.) LONDON, February 19,
I The Council of the National Panniers' Union carried a resolution pro-tcst-I ing to the Ministry of Agriculture that State-aided -emigration does not help the unemployed, since the emigrant is mainly drawn from classes which are not liable to unemployment, and demanding immediate reconsideration of the settlement policy to prevent the taxpayers' money being used to the detriment of home agricultural interests.
The resolution was inspired by a communication from Warwickshire deprecating Canadian emigration officials canvassing agricultural workers to profit by the recently reduced passage rates to Canada.—Reuter.
