At a meeting of the Whangarei Hockey Association, held last night in Mr. Connell’s office, it was decided to place local views before Mr. Kemp, delegate in Auckland to the Auckland Hockey Association, regarding the impending visit of the Sikhs’ team. The general opinion was that every effort should be made to induce the team to visit Whangarei and play a match at Kensington Park, probably towards the end of July.
Members of the Whangarei Rowing Club have subscribed amongst themselves? and have purchased a silver cigarette case for presentation to Mr, E. Emerson, formerly a valued member of the-club. In a covering letter it has been stated that owing to unforeseen circumstances members had been ,unable to'make the pfesentation before Mr Emerson loft but it Was hoped that the- trophy would remind him of the pleasant time he had had and of the many friends he left in Whangarei in members of the Rowing Club.. The souvenir has been forwarded by post to Mr. Emerson.
