LINCOLN’S APPEAL DISMISSED. Received 2.8 p.m.) LONDON, February 15. The appeal of John Lincoln, condemned to death for the murder of Edward Charles Richards, at Trowbridge, was dismissed.—A. and N.Z.
(Awakened by the report of a firearm, a resident of Trowbridge, Wiltshire, looked out of his bedroom window and saw a body lying in his front garden. On proceeding to the spot he' found Edward Richards, a brewery traveller, who had been in the same house, lying unconscious from bullet wounds. He died in the hospital. Two young soldiers, Stewart and Lincoln, were charged with the murder. Stewart was discharged and Lincoln sentenced to death.) -
