FORGER AND THIEF
LARGE SUM INVOLVED,
BANK MANAGER FOR SENTENCE
NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day.
Fifty-nine charges of falsifying the books of the bank, forging and uttering cheques, ami stealing sums of money totalling £7208 3s 6d were preferred against William Kerr, ex-manager of Stratford branch of Union Bank of Australia, in the Supreme Court yesterday. Kerr pleaded guilty to lifty-four of the charges and not guilty to the remainder on which he stood his trial. He "vVas acquitted by the Jury on four of the counts and convicted on ono of false pretences, a charge on which His Honour, Judge Ostler, directed the jury to acquit. Kerr will be sentenced. —Press Assn.

At tlx* Supreme Court William Kerr, ex-manager of the Union Bank,' Stratford, who pleaded guilty to fifty-four charges of theft, forgery and falsifying books, and was found guilty of obtaining £300 by false pretences from H. W. Barlow, was sentenced to three years' imprisonment with hard labour.
