GOOD OPPORTUNITY
FOR AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS,
GAMES IN NEW ZEALAND.
(Received 12.50 p.m.)
SYDNEY, This Day.
The agitation for sending the next Australian cricket team to tour England via New Zealand is receiving strong support in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. Players who have previously visited England •sta,te that several matches played in New Zealand would materially assist in acclimatising the Australian side before it reached England, the conditions and wickets in New Zealand being similar to those in England. To members making their first trip overseas such an experience would be invaluable.
The matter rests with the Board of Control. As New Zealand has offered a guarantee for a certain number of matches in New Zealand there can be no financial loss.
The "Telegraph" urges that the opportunity for letting Australia players accustom themselves to new conditions •with a few preliminary matches in New Zealand should not be missed. — A. and N.Z.
