' ENGINE LEFT IN GEAR,
FARMER SUFSOCATED.
TE AWAMUTU, This Day,
Alfred W. Jones, a farmer of Po"kß.ru "was killed last night as he was proceeding home by car from Te Awaxautu. He had evidently got out to crank the engine, which was left in gear, and the vehicle moved forward, pinning him to the ground and suffocating him.
The tody was found this morning, below the car, by a Toadman. The deceased leaves a widow and seven childTen and he was well-known throughout the "Wlaikato. —Press Assn.
