BRANCH MEETING N.Z.F.U.
A general meeting of the Ruatangata branch of the N.Z.F.U. was held in | the local hall last Wednesday evening, Mr R. R| Hodge presiding. It was resolved, on the motion of Messrs Hodge and "Wilson, that the letter from Mr A. E. Robinson, organising secretary for the Bay of Islands, be forwarded to Mr R- Einlayson, requesting him to attend to the requests contained in the letter. A letter from Mr F. L. Gunn ask ed for members' register for audit purposes. The secretary reported having supplied the register by return mail. Letters from Mr Webster, sub-pro-vincial secretary, were submitted to the meeting and received. Mr E. Tremaine, secretary, submitted his financial statement, and on I the motion of Messrs Going and Wilson I the accounts presented were passed j for payment, leaving a credit balance of £13 2s 7d. The secretary submitted lengthy and very interesting circulars from the Dominion executive giving a survey of the year's operations in farming, dairy control, activities of the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board and wool matters, also a letter from the Bradford Chamber of Commerce on the last named topic. The unanimous opinion of those pre- ! sent was that the information contained in the above circulars clearly indicated that Union activities were steadily bringing about improved conditions for the farming community. ROAD GRADER. Cr. Hodge has the county road I grader now engaged-i n cleaning out the water-tables with a view to preventing flood Vwater .using the metal as its channel, as is much in evidence at present, when 'heavy rain is falling. TCITCItEIsr EVENING. Local residents are contemplating tendering a kitchen evening in the near future to a happy bride-elect. CROPPING AREAS. Plough teams have been busy of late in the fields, doing preparatory work in connection with cropping. On several holdings the eaily crops of potatoes have been planted, up to two and three acres in some instances.
