AUCKLAND, This Day.
Car] Ernest Ekman, aged 38 years, was fined at the Police Court £300, with the alternative of six months' imprisonment, for carrying on business as a bookmaker.
It was stated that the accused's settling sheet for ore day's transactions tva* £S7. He owned a hairdresser's and tobacconist's shop at Mount Eden. When arrested he said he could get a bond for £500. —Press Assn.
