ACTIVITIES EErORTED. The Board of Directors of the Whangarei Y.W.C.A. held its monthly meeting on Wednesday; present—Mesdames Emerson (president), Simpson, Wolff, Dent, Steadman, Morrison, McCarroll, Wilson, Jones, Crawford, Holmes and Hunt. Apologies for absence wore sent by Mesdames McKay, Lochore and Bennett and Miss Harrison. The meeting opened with the special intercession for the Australian and New Zealand Y.W.C.A. Convention, to be held at the end of July in Brisbane. A delegate from every Association is expected at this Triennial National Convention. Miss Harrison was appointed to represent Whangarei. Keports were received and adopted. The Hostel had 18 permanent and four casual boarders for June, and has now one 'or two vacancies for permanent boarders. A gas califont is being installed this month. Classes and clubs were progressing satisfactorily. More enrolments could still be taken for the Tuesday fancy work and Thursday physical culture classes. A basketball team was being inaugurated and playing on Thursday afternoons.

The Membership Committee reported that as it was a year since the membership muster a great niXmber of subscriptions was now due. Notices had'been sent out and an "At Home" was being planned for Wednesday, July 15, at 2.30 in the club room. This function would be advertised, and woii.'d give all members and those interested an opportunity of hearing of the aims and purpose of the Y.W.C.A. movement, and how it was being carried out here and in other countries. Mrs. McCarroll's "At Home" to the Maunu members and friends was reported to have been a very enjoyable afternoon, several ladies becoming members on hearing of the splendid work done.
