Mr George A. Green, the, secretary of the Association of Nurserymen an<l organiser of the New Zealand Institute of Horticulture, arrived in Whar ngarei Inst evening by the express. Mr "Bunny" Fiiilavson returned to his home at Maungatuioto yesterday. The exact date of his next visit to Whangarei is not known, but it is supposed that, he will be in town during the early part of next week. Mr S. B. Dennis, formerly conductor of the Whangarei Municipal Silver Band, who has been a palient at tho Pukeora Sanatorium, for the past 18 months, returned home yesterday by the mail train looking much improveed in health. A telegram from Palmerston North reports the death of Captain George Augustus Preeee, N.?.C., aged 80 years, a well-known veteran of the Maori War. Whangarei Candidates were very successful at the Pharmacy Act examinations held last month. Mr A. T. Sargent, who is with Mr F. W. Reed, passed Section C, thus completing his course. He has the distinction of being the first Whangarei-trained student in ten or twelve years to qualify as a pharmaceutical chemist. Mr A. Stretton, who has been recently with Mr F. Farmer, also passed Section C, and Mr R. D. N. Jack, a niem--ber of Mr Reed's staff, passed Section B, Messrs E. ,T. Parr and TT. Kidson, ■inspectors of secondary sf-hools, hav® been visiting the Whangarei High! School this week and will leave for Auckland tonight. The Prime Minister, tho Hon. J.
