FURTHER APPEAL TO BRITAIN.
(Received 9.5 a.m.)
LONDON, July 7,
The "Daily Express' " Paris correspondent says it is reported that nine generals refused'the Morocco command' before General Naulin accepted, the, others offering the opinion that it was j useless to accept unless the Government were prepared to send the. necessary reinforcements of men and material. Those who declined include Generals Weygand and Guillamat, the latter of whom is commanding in the Rhine zone. i French opinion is desirous of Britain sending troops to Tangier, which is defended only by a small garrison of international police, in order to relieve the situation. • France is now negotiating with Brit- j ain and Spain, desiring to initiate a flanking attack on the Riffs through the Spanish zone. SATISFACTORY NEWS. PAINLEVE REASSURANCE. | (Received 12.30 p.m.) | PARIS, July 8. M. Painleve, interviewed, stated that the precipita'te departure of General Naulin for Morocco was in no manner necessary.
