CALLOUS MONSTER
COMMITTED EIGHT MURDERS "WIFE'S PATHETIC MISSIVE. LEAVES HIM UNMOVED. (Received 9 a.m.) BERLIN, July 7. . Dramatic scenes marked the opening of the 1 trial of Agerstein, charged with murdering ■ eight persons—his wife, his mother-in-law, a maid servant, two gardeners and two clerks. Agerstein calmly described how he stabbed s«jme of the victims and chased and killed the others with a chopper. He admitted that he had lived happily with his wife. Counsel read a letter written by accused's wife before her death, stating: "Make a grave for me in some quiet spot with a place for you beside me, and when I am gone love her still who was true to you till death." There was scarcely a dry eye in Court after the letter had been read, but Agerstein listened immoved. — A. and NJS.
